Phamily Poker Classic 2

I’ve took my customary week off after the WSOP to catch up on sleep and mull over the future and figure out what I’m going to do with myself the rest of 2011. But now, the fun begins. I about to embark on a two-week excursion and collect material for an upcoming book about a band from Vermont named Phish. I’m hitting the road to embed myself with hippies in the traveling circus, but there’s going to be a little poker involved when the tour stops in Tahoe.
I’m playing in a charity tournament and the organizers even made me a bounty player!
Next Wednesday (August 10th), the Phamily Poker Classic 2 will take place at Harvey’s in Lake Tahoe.
The Phamily Poker Classic 2 is a charity tournament with 50% of the buy-in being donated to the Mockingbird Foundation. The first event was held at the Tropicana Casino in Atlantic City during Halloween, when Phish played a three-night run on the Boardwalk. The tournament was a huge success, so much so there’s a second Phamily Poker Classic tournament that will kick off next Wednesday in Lake Tahoe.
Buy-in for the Phamily Poker Classic $120 and there’s still spots available. Click here to buy in.
The final table players get a cut of the prize pool in addition to some cool prizes.
FYI… I’m a bounty player which means if you knock me out of the tournament, you get an autographed copy of my book Lost Vegas: The Redneck Riviera, Existentialist Conversations with Strippers, and the World Series of Poker.
For the first event in October, I played along with Benjo and Irongirl. I busted very early last time around, but I hadn’t slept in two days! I’m hoping to get some rest before the tournament go much deeper this year.

2010 Phamily Poker Classic – Halloween Charity Tournament

Poker with hippies? Yes, it’s true.
I will be playing the 2010 Phamily Poker Classic — a charity poker hosted at the Tropicana in Atlantic City slated for October 30th at noon. All proceeds will benefit the Mockingbird Foundation, a non-profit organization set up by the band Phish. Previous donations raised by Mockingbird Foundation created music education grants for kids in 43 states. Yes, you’ll be helping out a worthy cause.
Here’s some back story — Phish is playing three concerts in Atlantic City at the end of October including a highly anticipated Halloween show. The Phish scene is not just for party people, but there are also lots of fans with big hearts. Because we were all going to be hanging out in Atlantic City for three days, a charity poker tournament seemed to be the right thing to do to help raise money for children music education.
Entry fee is $120 and there will be random bounties.
Tournament begins at noon on October 30th at the Tropicana. This is a two-day event. Because we all have to go to the concert, the tournament will be stopped at 6pm or when the final table is set — whichever comes first. The final table (or remaining tables) will return on Halloween to play down to the champion.
If you want to reserve your seat, click here to buy in now. The charity tournament is capped at 100 players.

Hope to see you there.

Tropicana to open Mob Museum
The new and improved South Beach-inspired Tropicana will open The Las Vegas Mob Experience this December.
Visitors will be able to explore the interactive museum sporting over 1,000 items (allegedly) owned by members of organized crime.
